... all ye that hope in the Lord ~ Psalm 31:24

At church this Sunday, the message was about Hope by Karl Trimboli. Not earthly hope but our hope of glory. What a coincidence that the title of my last post was Christ in me, the hope of glory ~ Colossians 1:27. In the message Karl mentioned a verse from the third lamentation of Jeremiah, (Great is thy faithfulness ~ Lamentations 3:23), what a powerful verse; I love the Lord so much.

I went back and read Lamentations chapter 3 and it brought tears to my eyes. My heart was filled with joy for the Lord's mercy and compassion. I started thinking about an old bible hymn by Thomas O. Chisholm (1923), title Great is thy faithfulness, here are the lyrics:

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

In hope of eternal life, which God that cannot lie, promised before the world began ~ Titus 1:2
